Product Description
High above a bend in the Douro River, Quinta do Crasto has farmed terraced vineyards since the eighteenth century, and its reputation rests on turning the same native grapes that go into Port into serious dry red wine. The Reserva is a field blend of Portuguese varieties rather than a single grape, and it remains a reminder that Portugal is one of the last places where wine of this seriousness is not priced like a luxury good.
The 2016 is dark and structured, with blackberry, dried fig and violet over slate, cedar and warm spice. Tannins are firm but ripe, the finish savory. Decant an hour and serve at 62 degrees with roast lamb or aged sheep cheese.
