Product Description
A vintage Port is declared only in years an estate judges worthy, then bottled young so the wine does the rest of its work in glass instead of in cask. This 1997 from Quinta Nova has had close to three decades to soften and turn savory, which is the entire argument for buying vintage Port in the first place. Bottles carrying this much age are steadily harder to come by.
The fruit has moved from fresh to dried: fig, prune and candied orange, with mature notes of leather, tobacco and sweet spice. Stand it upright, decant carefully off the sediment, and pour at about 62 degrees with hard cheese or plain walnuts.
