Remy Martin spent nearly three centuries perfecting aged cognac before turning the same eye toward something unaged. V is the result: a clear spirit distilled from Ugni Blanc grapes grown in western France, then rested in steel rather than oak so the fruit arrives without the filter of wood. It is a genuine departure from a house that rarely experiments, and a rewarding pour for anyone who assumes they already know how French grape spirit tastes.
Expect white peach, pear skin and a faint floral lift, closing clean and almost mineral. Serve it very cold over one large cube, or build a highball with tonic and a wide strip of grapefruit peel.
