Riunite arrived in America in the 1970s and became the best-known Italian wine in the country almost overnight, largely on the strength of one idea: a red wine served chilled, fizzy and sweet. Emilia-Romagna has made Lambrusco this way for generations. The magnum reflects how it actually gets consumed, which is freely and among friends.
Purple and frothy, with ripe berry, black cherry and a soft sweetness cut by gentle acidity and bubbles. Serve it cold from the refrigerator, never at room temperature. Surprisingly good with pizza, salami, fried food or anything spicy.
