Product Description
The Drouhin family has been making Burgundy since 1880 and Oregon Pinot Noir since the 1980s, when they bet that the Willamette Valley could speak the same language as the Cote de Beaune. Roserock is their Eola-Amity Hills estate, and Zephirine is the cuvee that shows what a hillside of volcanic soil and marine sediment can do with patience behind it.
The wine is elegant rather than heavy: red cherry, cranberry and rose petal, with a mineral spine and silken tannins that build slowly across the finish. Give it half an hour of air and serve it cool, around sixty degrees. Duck, roast pork, salmon and wild mushrooms are ideal, as is a quiet evening and a good glass.
