Product Description
Moscato d'Asti is Italy's answer to the problem of dessert: a wine sweet enough to stand beside cake yet light enough that nobody leaves the table feeling heavy. Ruffino, a Tuscan house with well over a century behind it, draws this one from Piedmont, where Moscato Bianco has been coaxed into frothy, low-alcohol brilliance for generations.
The nose is all peach blossom, apricot and orange zest. The palate follows sweet and gently frizzante, closing clean rather than sticky. Serve it cold in a small glass. Fruit tarts, biscotti, panna cotta and ripe stone fruit are the classic partners, and a glass on its own makes a lovely, low-key end to a long dinner.
