Michigan's wine industry runs through Paw Paw, where St. Julian has been pressing fruit since 1921. This is one of the winery's sweet, summer-minded bottlings, the kind that gets bought by the armful in July and never comes close to a cellar rack.
The style is frankly sweet and fruit-driven, soft in acid, with tropical and berry notes and no tannin to speak of. It wants to be very cold, ideally over ice, and it takes well to a splash of soda or a handful of frozen fruit. Uncomplicated warm-weather drinking, plain and simple.
