Product Description
Saldo comes from the team behind The Prisoner, and it applies the same philosophy to Zinfandel: source widely across California, blend for richness, and make no apology for a big wine. Fruit comes from old vines in a handful of appellations, some planted generations ago, and the result is generous in a way that is increasingly out of fashion and still deeply satisfying.
The palate is dense with blackberry jam, raspberry liqueur, black pepper and vanilla, closing warm on soft, ripe tannins. Serve it at cool room temperature in a large bowl of a glass. Ribs, brisket, pulled pork, pepperoni pizza and anything touched by smoke are its natural territory. Not a subtle wine, and not attempting to be.
