Product Description
Sweet red wine kept a good many American wineries alive through the middle of the twentieth century, and San Antonio, operating in Los Angeles since 1917, sold plenty of it. This bottling continues that line: soft, fruity, low in tannin, and made for drinkers who never wanted their red wine to taste austere in the first place.
Expect black cherry and grape-jam sweetness, a plush and very approachable body, and a finish that is round rather than drying. Serve it lightly chilled, which keeps the sugar in check. Chocolate desserts, barbecue, spicy sausage and a bowl of popcorn all suit it, and it makes a decent mulled wine with a cinnamon stick in winter.
