Product Description
Merlot spent twenty years paying for one line in a film, and the wines were never the problem. Softer than Cabernet, rounder through the middle, easier to open on a Tuesday, it is arguably the more useful grape for everyday drinking. Sand Point makes the case quietly, with a Lodi Merlot that is ripe, generous and completely unpretentious.
Plum, black cherry and a little cocoa fill a medium body, with gentle tannins and a soft, warm finish. Serve it at cool room temperature and skip the decanter. Roast pork, pasta with meat sauce, a mushroom pizza or a cheese board all work beautifully. An easy red for anyone who finds big Cabernet too much midweek.
