Product Description
Sandar and Hem is a small California operation working in a restrained, cool-climate register, the kind of label you find because someone recommended it rather than because it was advertised. Production is modest and the winemaking is deliberately hands-off, which means the wine tastes more of vineyard than of cellar technique.
The Chardonnay is precise rather than plush: green apple, lemon pith, wet stone and a thread of hazelnut, with bright acidity and only a suggestion of oak. Serve it cool rather than ice-cold, in a white Burgundy glass if you have one. Roast chicken, scallops, gruyere and simple fish dishes all show it at its best.
