Product Description
George Sandeman set up shop in London in 1790 with a borrowed three hundred pounds and began shipping Port out of the Douro. More than two centuries later the caped silhouette on the label, known simply as the Don, is among the oldest trademarks in the wine trade. The ruby bottling is the house's most direct expression: young, vivid, fortified while still bursting with fruit.
The glass is deep purple, the flavours run to black cherry, raspberry and dark chocolate, and the sweetness is held in check by a warming spirit backbone. Serve it lightly chilled in a small glass. Blue cheese, walnuts, dark chocolate and a cold evening are all it asks for. Once opened it keeps for weeks refrigerated.
