Product Description
Brunello di Montalcino is Tuscany's most serious red, made entirely from Sangiovese grown on the hills around a single hilltop town and held back for years before release. Sesta works that territory, and a bottle like this is what people mean when they talk about Italian wine as a long-term proposition rather than a weeknight one.
The wine is structured and savory: sour cherry, dried rose, leather, tobacco and a dusty tannic frame with acidity that keeps it upright. Decant it an hour or more, serve it at cellar temperature in large glasses, and put it beside bistecca, wild boar ragu or aged pecorino.
