Chenin Blanc is the most planted grape in South Africa, and the Malan family at Simonsig have spent decades arguing it deserves more respect than it gets. Their Stellenbosch bottling is the evidence: a dry, focused white from a Cape estate otherwise famous for pioneering bottle-fermented sparkling wine.
Crisp and mouth-watering, with white peach, quince and a squeeze of lime over a stony, dry finish. Excellent with grilled fish, roast chicken, Thai curry or a plate of oysters. A smart weeknight white for anyone who has grown tired of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio.
