Duplin Winery in North Carolina built the Sweet Lily range on a simple idea: make wine taste like the fruit on the label. Blueberry is among the most popular bottlings in the line, and it drinks more like a dessert wine than like anything you would pour with a meal.
The flavor is dense blueberry preserve, sweet with a little tartness at the edges, and a warm, lingering finish from the elevated alcohol. Serve it well chilled in a small glass. It is excellent over vanilla ice cream, alongside a lemon tart, or sipped slowly after dinner. A little goes a long way.
