Product Description
La Altena, in the highlands of Jalisco, is one of the most respected distilleries in tequila, and Tapatio is the Camarena family's own label, made much as it was three generations ago. This extra anejo sits at the top of that range: highland agave, cooked slowly, then left in oak for years before anyone touches it.
Time in wood shows as caramel, toasted oak, dried fruit, and vanilla, but the cooked-agave core is still clearly there underneath, which is the mark of tequila worth aging. Pour it neat in a copita and leave it alone. A sipping bottle for slow evenings, and an impressive pour to set in front of someone who knows agave.
