Product Description
Tapatio is the house label of La Altena, the Arandas distillery that has been making tequila since 1937 and whose standing among people who take agave seriously is close to untouchable. The anejo is the middle of the range and arguably its best argument: enough oak to add depth, not enough to bury the agave.
Cooked agave leads, with vanilla, dried orange peel, a little cinnamon, and a warm, clean finish. It has weight without heaviness. Drink it neat at room temperature in a narrow glass, or use it where a lesser anejo would be wasted, in a carefully made old fashioned variation. A bottle that repays attention.
