Product Description
The Douro is terraced stone and schist, planted on slopes steep enough that much of the work is still done by hand. In a strong year Taylor Fladgate declares a vintage, blending fruit from a single harvest into a wine meant to be laid down rather than drunk straight away. The 2016 sits firmly in that tradition.
Concentrated and youthful, showing dark berry, violet, liquorice and fine-grained tannin, with real length. Decant an hour ahead if you are opening it now, and serve in small glasses just below room temperature. Aged cheese, walnuts or a plain square of dark chocolate suit it better than anything sweet.
