Declared vintages do not usually arrive in consecutive years, which is part of what makes the 2017 worth attention. Taylor Fladgate has been at this since 1692 and has never been casual about which harvests get the vintage designation, so the label itself is a form of quality control. Bottled young, intended for the long haul.
Expect a dark, fragrant wine with blackcurrant, dried herb, cocoa and firm structure underneath. It is drinkable now with a decant, but it will be a different and better wine in ten years. Serve in small glasses after a meal, with strong cheese or simply on its own.
