Product Description
Brunello di Montalcino asks more of a producer than almost any other Italian red: Sangiovese only, grown on the hills around Montalcino, and years of required aging before a bottle may be released. That long apprenticeship is the point. Small Tuscan estates like this one make the wine in modest quantities, which is exactly why bottles like this are worth seeking out.
Classic in shape, with sour cherry, dried rose, leather and tobacco carried on bright acidity and firm, dusty tannin. Decant it, pour it into large glasses, and put it beside something substantial: braised beef, wild mushroom pasta, aged pecorino. It will keep improving for years.
