Tuscan estates often bottle it from younger vines or from lots that want early charm rather than decades of patience, and the result is a wine that gives immediate pleasure for sensible money.
Red cherry, plum skin and a savory note of dried herb sit on lively acidity and medium tannin. Serve it at cool room temperature with tomato-based pasta, roast chicken, grilled sausage or a board of salumi and hard cheese. An excellent midweek red.
