Product Description
Alicante is one of those grapes that never quite became famous, kept alive instead by growers in warm coastal vineyards who understand what it can do. Deeply pigmented and naturally generous, it makes reds with real presence and very little pretension. Bottles like this reward the curious drinker more than the label collector, which is usually where the value hides.
The wine is dark and warm-hearted, with blackberry, dried plum, a lick of black pepper and a soft herbal edge over rounded tannin. Serve it at cool room temperature with grilled lamb, sausage, roasted peppers or an aged sheep cheese. Easy company on a cold evening.
