Small-production tequila lives or dies on the honesty of its agave, and the anejo is where that honesty gets tested. Extended rest in oak will flatter a mediocre spirit for a while, but it cannot invent depth that was never there. This is the bottle in the Honor range for drinkers who want the aged expression rather than the mixing one.
The pour is deep amber, opening on cooked agave and butterscotch before moving through baking spice, dried fig and a faint cocoa note. The finish is long, dry and warm. Serve it neat, no ice, in a narrow glass, and give it a few minutes to open.
