Product Description
Montepulciano is central Italy answer to the question of what to drink on a weeknight. Thick-skinned and sun-loving, it produces reds that are deeply colored and soft in the mouth, generous without demanding much attention. Wines like this rarely get written about, which is precisely why they remain such good value on the shelf.
The palate is plush and dark: black cherry, ripe plum, a touch of dried herb and a faint bitter-almond twist on the finish. Tannins are round and the acidity is moderate. Serve it at cool room temperature with pizza, baked pasta, grilled sausage or a bowl of olives and hard cheese.
