Red cherry, rose petal and damp earth: Pinot Noir at its best trades power for transparency, and that is a harder trick to pull off than sheer ripeness. This is a bottle for the drinker who would rather have detail and lift than weight, and it is priced to be opened on an ordinary evening rather than saved for a special one.
Light to medium in body, with bright acidity, silky tannin and a savory undertone beneath the fruit. Serve it cool, around fifteen degrees, in a wide glass. It flatters salmon, roast chicken, mushroom dishes and soft cheeses, and it is one of the few reds that works with a summer meal.
