Product Description
Double Cask is Macallan's balancing act, and fifteen years is where it gets interesting. The whisky matures separately in sherry-seasoned American oak and sherry-seasoned European oak, then the two are married. American wood brings honey, vanilla and citrus, European wood brings dried fruit, spice and color, and neither side wins.
At fifteen years they are fully integrated: butterscotch, raisin, orange oil, ginger and a soft wood smoke, carried on a creamy texture and a long, warming finish. Forty-three percent keeps it generous. Pour it neat in a tulip glass after dinner, or bring it out when someone asks what a good single malt tastes like.
