Sancerre sits on the upper Loire, where chalk and flint soils give Sauvignon Blanc a precision it achieves almost nowhere else. This 2019 comes in a half bottle, which is either a practical solution for a single glass with dinner or an invitation to try a benchmark appellation without committing to a full-size bottle. Either way, it is the real thing.
Taut and dry, with grapefruit pith, white currant, cut grass and a distinctly stony finish. Serve it properly cold, alongside goat cheese, oysters, sole, or a salad sharpened with lemon. Ideal for anyone who finds New World Sauvignon Blanc too loud.
