The Jungle Bird came out of 1970s Kuala Lumpur and has since become a bartender favorite, largely on the strength of one unlikely move: Campari in a tiki drink. Tip Top's version arrives pre-batched in a small can at proper cocktail strength, which solves the usual problem of needing five bottles to make one round.
Dark rum richness meets pineapple and lime, with Campari's bitter orange running underneath to keep the whole thing from going sweet. Chill the can, pour over ice into a rocks glass, and garnish with pineapple if you have it. A genuinely interesting drink to hand someone who thinks tiki means sugary.
