Product Description
Tommasi has farmed the Valpolicella hills above Verona since 1902, and Rafael is its single-vineyard Classico — the bottling that shows what the appellation does when nobody is reaching for Amarone-scale weight. A 2016 with real time behind it now, which suits this wine: Valpolicella Classico rewards a few years of patience.
Sour cherry and dried herb lead, with almond skin, a touch of leather and bright acidity holding everything upright. Medium-bodied and savory rather than sweet. Serve at cellar temperature with risotto, braised beef, mushroom pasta or a plate of aged alpine cheese.
