Product Description
Vermentino is the white wine Italians drink by the sea, and the grape tastes like it — saline, citric and faintly bitter on the close, the way good Mediterranean whites tend to be. It is still under-ordered in the States, which makes it one of the better values on any Italian shelf.
Crisp and dry, with lemon peel, green almond, white peach and a distinctly salty finish. Serve it thoroughly chilled. Its natural home is seafood — clams, grilled branzino, fritto misto, shrimp with garlic — though it is just as good with a plain lunch of prosciutto, melon and bread.
