Trump Winery works a sprawling property in the Monticello foothills of central Virginia, a region whose humid summers and granite soils turn out white wines with real cut. Chardonnay is the estate's strong suit, and it is handled here with restraint rather than the heavy oak-and-butter treatment the grape so often receives.
Expect green apple and white peach, a chalky mineral spine and only a whisper of vanilla from barrel, with a dry, clean close.
