Product Description
Mavrodaphne is one of the great sweet wines almost nobody talks about. Grown in the Peloponnese, fortified, then rested in cask until it turns deep and resinous, it has been Greece's answer to dessert wine for well over a century. Tsantali is among the houses that kept the tradition both alive and affordable.
Pour it and you get raisin, fig, dark chocolate and a walnut-skin edge, sweet but framed by enough acidity to stay genuinely drinkable. Serve small measures, lightly chilled, after dinner with chocolate cake, baklava or aged cheese, or simply on its own. A bottle that rewards slow sipping and stays good for weeks once opened.
