Product Description
Christian Moueix spent a career at the summit of Bordeaux before turning his attention to a stony parcel in Oakville, and Ulysses is what came of that crossing. This is Napa Valley cabernet made by someone who thinks in terms of restraint and proportion, and 2015 was a small, concentrated vintage in the valley.
The wine is dense but composed: cassis, violet, graphite and cedar, with tannins that feel woven rather than applied and a long, savory close. Decant an hour and serve in a large bowl. Rare beef, venison, aged hard cheese. A collector's bottle that drinks well now and will keep evolving for many years yet.
