Product Description
Tempranillo is Spain's great red grape, the backbone of Rioja and a large part of why Spanish wine drinks so well with food. Valdepalacios bottles it in a direct, unfussy style meant to be enjoyed young, which is exactly what Tempranillo at this price should be doing.
Expect red cherry and strawberry, a little dried tobacco and vanilla from brief time in oak, medium body, and bright acidity that keeps the finish clean. Serve it slightly cool. It is superb with lamb, chorizo, grilled peppers, manchego, or a simple plate of jamon and good bread. A fine everyday Spanish red.
