Not everything with bubbles needs to come from Champagne, and Veuve du Vernay has built a long career proving the point. This is French sparkling wine made outside that region, produced in a dry brut style and priced so bubbles can become a Tuesday habit rather than a special occasion.
It drinks crisp and clean, with green apple, pear and lemon zest over a lively, straightforward fizz and a dry finish. Serve it very cold.
