Product Description
La Crau, a wind-scoured plateau of rolled stones on the eastern edge of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, is where Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe has farmed for generations. The wine off it is a reference point for the southern Rhone, and 2010 is counted among the great modern vintages there. In half bottle, it becomes a serious wine at a manageable scale.
Grenache leads, giving kirsch and dried strawberry alongside garrigue herbs, leather, black olive and a warm stony finish. With this much age it reads savory rather than fruity. Open it an hour ahead, use a broad glass, and pour it with lamb, game or a slow-cooked stew.
