Product Description
The agave worm in the bottle is no gimmick in Oaxaca, where the larva has been used for generations to add savory, earthy depth to the spirit around it. Wahaka works with a family of mezcaleros in the Oaxacan valleys, roasting espadin agave in earthen pits and distilling in small copper stills, then rests this expression in oak with a gusano added.
Rested wood softens the smoke into something rounder: roasted agave, vanilla, dried chile, soft leather and a distinctly savory, mineral undertow, finishing dry and long. Sip it neat at room temperature with orange and sal de gusano alongside. Traditional mezcal, and a conversation piece besides.
