Product Description
Rheinhessen spent decades in the shadow of Germany's more famous river valleys, and a small group of young estates changed that. Thörle is among them, farming old parcels around Saulheim with the kind of attention usually reserved for grand cru ground. The Hölle site is one of their better-known holdings, and the wines have a following among people who take Riesling seriously.
Expect precision rather than sweetness: white peach, lime, wet stone and a taut line of acidity carrying a long, mineral finish. Serve it cold but not frozen, in a proper glass. Superb with pork, trout, sushi, schnitzel or spiced Asian dishes, where its clarity cuts straight through richness.
